The Beginning

1Hood Media Academy was born from a vision to create a space where art and activism intersect, where young voices could be amplified, and where the power of creative expression could drive social change.

Rooted in Pittsburgh’s rich cultural heritage and inspired by the city’s iconic black and gold, we set out to build a collective that would serve as the vanguard of arts and activism.

Our Mission Emerges

As a collective of socially conscious artists and activists, we recognized the transformative power of art as a vehicle for raising awareness about social justice issues affecting communities around the world.

We began offering workshops, performances, and training programs that connected communities and amplified messages that needed to be heard.

Growth & Impact

Over the years, 1Hood Media Academy has grown into a comprehensive platform offering:

• Media literacy and creation training for youth
• Music production, vocal instruction, and performance opportunities
• Visual arts including photography and videography
• Workshops in conflict resolution and media literacy
• Artist development and entrepreneurship training

Today, 1Hood Media Academy continues to serve as a platform for artists to tell their own stories and for young people to utilize their gifts and talents to secure financial sustainability.
